Watch for the Tree Commission crews around town today.
Each year the Newburyport Tree Commission does Pruning and Mulching on all the trees that the Tree Commission has planted since 2006, which number around 800 trees. Pruning young trees is very important to the long-term health of the tree and the proper structure of the tree. The maintenance of newly planted trees is part of the mission of the Tree Commission and maintaining the health and wellness of every tree that the Commission plants is of utmost importance to the City of Newburyport.
The Tree Commission will be mulching trees this Earth Day and Arbor Day with crews in the South End and North End on both weekends in late April. We will be using wood chips from trees that have been taken down by the city this past year.
