Mission Statement of The Salvation Army:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Salvation Army was founded by William and Catherine Booth in London, England in 1865. The Newburyport branch has been in operation since 1885.
Now located at 40 Water street, The Salvation Army hosts a variety of programs and services at low or no cost to the public.
There are Sunday Morning Church Services each week at 10:00 am.
Daily free breakfast and coffee available (M-F)
Each Wednesday from 11:10 am - 12:00 noon join us for free lunch at the ''S.A. Cafe''
Every Thursday at 5:00pm is the ''Friendship Table'', a free dinner which is open to the public.
We also offer Yoga, Zumba and Dog training classes often at low cost or with a free will donation.
The Salvation Army is also is home to the Newburyport Council on Aging office. Various programs for seniors are offered throughout the week.
