YPP March Mentorship Mixer
Young Professionals with a Purpose (YPP)
MARCH MENTORSHIP MIXER
Benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley
Join us for an evening of networking between young professionals and experienced mentors at Haverhill Country Club. The purpose of this group is to unite Newburyport's burgeoning young professionals for the purpose of business networking and making a positive impact in the community. YPP mixers every other month will showcase a different local charity, nonprofit, or cause each time. For this event, we'll hear briefly from a representative of the Boys & Girls Club about the afterschool programming they provide for kids as well as their needs and how we can help support their mission.
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS
Chamber members & nonmembers ages 21-40
How would you like to learn from experienced mentors in your field or industry? Make plans to attend this informative evening event. With small discussion groups of young professionals & mentors in a particular industry, you can delve into issues that are specific to your field. There will be an opportunity for Q+A so you can get answers to your burning questions from someone who's learned from their experience. Bring some friends or come alone. Don't forget your business cards and promotional materials. We will have a display table where you can put them out for people to take. In addition, the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and a few other local resources will be there, too, so you can learn how to take advantage of the services they offer. RSVP on Facebook to preview the mentors you can meet at the March Mentorship Mixer.
MENTORS
Chamber members ages 40 and over with industry knowledge
We're seeking experienced professionals interested in mentoring young entrepreneurs and business people. We're asking for a two-hour time commitment, not a long term mentor relationship, but if that should develop out of your conversations with one or more young professionals, then great! In our "Meet the Mentors" portion, we'll ask you to very briefly introduce yourself to the group. Then you'll be leading a small discussion group, possibly with one or two other mentors in your field. Young professionals want to learn from your experience, so they will ask you questions about how you manage your time, mistakes you've learned from, and any tricks of the trade that you've acquired over the years. To sign up as a mentor for this mixer, email Alison Tames. Mentors will be featured on the Facebook page leading up to the event. Feel free to invite one of your colleagues to come & be part of your discussion group, or nominate other professionals that you feel would be good mentors for young professionals.
