What's On The Menu: Exploring Flavor and Meaning in Your Food
The food we eat tells a story. Hidden within each morsel of food is science, history, and elements of the spiritual swirling about elements of the political. Our lunch menu will be the launch pad to discuss these subjects and more. Each item in our lunch will point us towards topics such as the concept of “nutritionism,” mindful eating, food history and food of the future, sustainable seafood, and new ideas about the human biome within us. We may choose not to cook but we have to eat and the food we eat is a useful mirror to understand the world. This program will offer opportunities to taste, play with foods, express yourself, and even learn a few cooking tips along the way.
