"Senior Readers' Theater" at The Firehouse Center for the Arts
To culminate the 8-week fall sessions of the popular Firehouse program Senior Readers' Theater, students will perform two scenes from:
"The Trial " by Franz Kafka
Persecuted by a remote and inaccessible authority for a crime that is never explained to him, Joseph K. becomes tormented by the need to find the truth. Unfortunately for him, the truth proves to be as elusive and mysterious as the charges against him.
"The Last Night of Ballyhoo" by Alfred Uhryr
Winner of the 1997 Tony Award for Best Play, The Last Night of Ballyhoo follows the Freitag family of Atlanta, Georgia. It is December 1939, Hitler has recently conquered Poland, Gone With The Wind is premiering in town, and a young New Yorker visits the Freitags and proceeds to rattle the walls of assimilation behind which this family of Jews have been hiding.
