The Newburyport Powder House built in 1822 at Godfrey's Hill on Low Street - exterior and interior restored, with original cobblestone wagon path open as a historic park and learning center. Come experience a Civil War encampment, musket firing demonstrations at 1:30 and 3:30 pm, master cooper demonstration (27th) and guided tours of this unique historic landmark critical to our defense. For Newburyport men who served in the Massachusetts Militia this was an important and vital building. Come learn about the role the Powder House played in Newburyport's maritime economy and the ship captains and merchants who stored gunpowder here.
Special Instructions:
No toilet facilities are available at the site. Slight incline and walk to site.
