Netty's Story: Every Stitch a Memory
Netty’s Story: Every Stitch A Memory is a look back at the courageous life of Holocaust survivor, Netty Vanderpol, born in Amsterdam and imprisoned with her family at Theresienstadt concentration camp in Czechoslovakia, during World War II. Netty, who lives just outside of Boston, created a stunning needlepoint collection called, Every Stitch A Memory that visually represents her memories of the war and her recovery in the years afterwards. Netty's story is part of a collection of survivor stories kept alive by the Holocaust Legacy Partner program, a group originally founded by Sonia Weitz and now overseen by the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Salem State University. In this talk, Legacy Partner, Anne Richardson weaves together Netty’s words and memories, along with video footage and historical references to tell a story of hope and resilience in the face of the atrocities of the Holocaust.
