Local Poverty Matters to Address Opiate Addition on Dec 7th
The epidemic of opiate addiction has touched many people in our community – either directly because of one’s own or a loved one’s struggles or indirectly through struggles of a friend or acquaintance. Getting people into treatment saves lives. Hear from Kim Keene, one of the founders of the Pelican Intervention Fund, about the challenges facing men and women struggling with opiate and heroin addiction and the work the Fund does to support adults in Greater Newburyport on their journey from addiction to recovery.
Bring your questions to the Local Poverty Matters Discussion on Wednesday, December 7th, from 7-8 pm in the basement classroom of the First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant Street Newburyport.
The Local Poverty Matters Discussion Group is held on the first Wednesday of the month from October through May. These monthly sessions are sponsored by Pennies for Poverty and by the Social Action Committee of the First Religious Society. They are free and open to the public.
