Jay Ash, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will kick off the Monthly Local Poverty Matters speaker series with a talk on affordable housing as an approach to income inequality. Secretary Ash is responsible for directing and executing Governor Charlie Baker’s agenda on housing and community development, job creation, business development, consumer affairs, and business regulation. He previously served as the city manager in his native Chelsea, MA.
Bring your questions to the Local Poverty Matters Discussion on Wednesday, October 5th, from 7-8 pm in the basement classroom of the First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant Street Newburyport.
The Local Poverty Matters Discussion Group is held on the first Wednesday of the month from October through May. These monthly sessions are sponsored by Pennies for Poverty and by the Social Action Committee of the First Religious Society. They are free and open to the public.
