Greenbelt Presents Lorax Story Walk in Newbury
On Sunday June 29th, at 1pm, Greenbelt, Essex County’s Land Trust, will host a free children’s’ story walk on its Hans Morris Reservation, 108 Middle Rd, Newbury. Families and people of all ages are welcome to search for The Lorax, as this cautionary classic by Dr. Seuss, is read along the half-mile loop trail.
Long before “going green” was mainstream, Dr. Seuss’s Lorax spoke for the trees and warned of the dangers of disrespecting the environment. The walk will include a scavenger hunt, and every time a Lorax is found hiding along the trail, more of the story will be read.
Meet the Once-ler, the inventor of “Thneeds”, a creation that eventually leads to the devastation of the forest, and all of its inhabitants. The walk provides a great opportunity for everyone to get outdoors, see the beauty in the world around us, and understand our responsibility to protect it.
