Berklee College of Music (Rising Stars)
Featuring Berklee College of Music Students
Aubrey Harris, Daniel Alvarez De Toledo, & Seth Campbell
Each of these young local artists have already graced the stage of The Firehouse over the past years during their young careers. Today they have all taken their passion for music and performing to be students at The Berklee College of Music in Boston!
The connections between the Newburyport area and Berklee ventures back to its earliest days, when Les Harris Sr. and Charlie Bechler attended the new school with the help of the GI Bill in 1954. When Lawrence Berk started the school, naming it in honor of his son Lee, (Berklee), he soon began expanding and solicited the help of Newburyporters, Bill Plante Jr and James Zafris to join its Board of Trustees and help guide the school to become today one the of the top music schools in the world. Over the years many music students have followed the path Les Harris Sr began and our area is home to numerous Berklee professors, including Les Sr, Marty Walsh, and Danny Harrington.
Aubrey Harris is a bassist and songwriter who grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire. She now is a student at Berklee following in the footsteps of her alumni father (Les Harris Jr.) and grandfather (Les Harris Sr.). She has performed with country music star Keith Urban on the American Country Awards, and has played for contestants on NBC's America's Got Talent at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Aubrey recently released her first self-titled mini EP of original songs, and plans to graduate Berklee with the class of 2017
Seth Campbell is a twenty-two year-old multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Amesbury, Massachusetts. He began taking piano lessons at age three at Newburyport's Musical Suite, and he's been writing original material for well over a decade. He has performed with such diverse artists as Inca Son, Marty Walsh & The Total Plan, and Cold Engines, and toured nationally with The Brew in 2012. He has also contributed recordings to the last two Bruce Hornsby charity tribute albums put out by Bruuuce.com. In addition to playing piano bars in and around Boston, Campbell is currently majoring in both Songwriting and Contemporary Writing/Production at Berklee, from which he expects to graduate in the Spring of 2017.
Daniel Alvarez de Toledo is a 21 year old singer songwriter from Newburyport. After learning piano by ear in his early teens, Daniel studied piano with Chris Plante of The Brew. He is in his second year at Berklee studying music production and in that time has opened a studio with Chris Plante, produced numerous artists, completed two national tours, and completed a record of his own. Daniel plays an average of two shows a week and is always working to be the best musician he can be.
