Annual Plant & Bake Sale
Whittier Home to host Annual Plant & Bake Sale on May 27th
The Whittier Home Museum, 86 Friend Street, Amesbury, welcomes spring and National Historic Preservation Month with its Annual Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 27th from 9:00 am – 1:00pm, rain date is Sunday May 28th.
President of WHA, Chris Bryant, welcomes one and all to enjoy the beauty of the Victorian garden while indulging in homemade pastries and beverages in Whittier’s Garden Café, hosted by the Whittier Home’s hospitality committee.
The plant sale will include unique species you won’t find in garden shops. There will be cuttings from the Whittier Garden as well as from member’s gardens, including prize irises, hostas, hybrids, other “discoveries” and herbs. All plants are indigenous to New England soil, and garden experts will be on hand to give advice on how to transfer and take care of the plants. Expect a varied collection of plantings and garden supplies, including vases, tools, pots and garden décor.
Have a seat and enjoy a cup of coffee or a cold drink, along with the delectable choice of home baked sweets and breads made by Whittier Home members. The ladies encourage patrons to purchase extra baked goods, including pies to take home. Come early for the best selection, and bring friends!
Donations of plants, garden supplies and baked goods are appreciated and can be left at the Whittier home on Friday, morning, May 26th, from 9-12, or call 978-388-8888 for pickup/dropoff arrangements. You may leave plant donations at any time on the back porch and patio of the Home.
The Museum will be open for tours from 1:00 to 4:00, and docents will be on hand to offer mini-tours starting at noon.
As always, proceeds from this annual event benefit the upkeep of the Historic Whittier Home Museum and educational outreach activities sponsored by WHA.
