Free public forum at 7:00 p.m., September 11
First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant Street, Lower Meeting House, Newburyport
Home ownership made affordable for low-income families can generate stability that not only solves the problem of precarious housing but also contributes to economic and social well-being and health. Hear from Habitat for Humanity homeowner, Roxanna Mota, about how home ownership improves her family’s security and community membership. Pennies for Poverty and First Religious Society Justice Action Ministry sponsor this forum to be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 11, at First Religious Society, 26 Pleasant Street, Newburyport. This forum kicks off the second year of mobilizing information and action to address housing insecurity experienced by households priced out of decent housing in Newburyport and neighboring towns. Mota will be joined by Habitat for Humanity staff and volunteers who will share details of the Habitat build underway on Old County Road in Salisbury. Learn how Habitat relies on community volunteers and the best ways to join.
