Acton Minutemen at the Powder House for Yankee Homecoming!
Tour the restored exterior and interior of Newburyport's 1822 Powder House. Stroll the original cobblestone wagon path and park grounds. Enjoy talks by the Acton Minutemen about the importance of early militias in all towns of the Bay Colony. The Minutemen will demonstrate the use and firing of the flintlock musket, and marching maneuvers from the Revolutionary War.
The restored Newburyport Powder House is an American Association of State and Local History merit award winner. This event is sponsored by the Newburyport Preservation Trust, a non-profit membership organization that values and advocates for the historic heritage of Newburyport.
The Newburyport Powder House Park and Learning Center is on Godfrey's Hill, 57 Low Street, across from the Nock/Molin schools.
