“A Salute to Veterans” with Don Campbell
Maudslay Arts Center Silver Jubilee
concludes with concert for veterans
“A Salute to Veterans” with Don Campbell on Aug. 27
The Maudslay Arts Center Summer Concert Series is proud to conclude its Silver Jubilee season with “A Salute to Veterans,” a concert thanking our veterans and their families for their service.
Area veterans and Gold Star Families are invited to attend “A Salute to Veterans” with singer-songwriter Don Campbell on Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. upon registration at their local Senior Center.
All veterans will have free admission thanks to the generous donations of area businesses, organizations and individuals with the support of the Amesbury, Merrimac, Haverhill, Newburyport, Salisbury, Newbury, and West Newbury Senior Centers. Veterans’ guests will be admitted at a reduced price of $10, which will be collected at the door.
Veterans wishing to attend must contact the Senior Center in their community to reserve their spots as seating is limited. Wheelchair vans will be provided for veterans who request them.
The afternoon promises to be a wonderful Salute to Veterans and a fitting way to conclude Maudslay Arts Center’s Silver Jubilee. State flags will line the drive up to the concert venue thanks to area Rotary and Lions Clubs. Refreshments will be served free of charge to veterans at intermission. Cold drinks will be sold in the concert barn.
Area elected officials, veterans’ services officers, police and fire chiefs, a color guard and a bagpiper will be on hand, and the program will be filmed. Copies of the film will then be distributed to area Senior Centers.
Don Campbell is an adult contemporary/country crossover and folk-rock singer-songwriter whose uniquely clear and well-delivered presentation of music supports the story in the song and welcomes the audience on board for the ride. Often compared to the sounds of Dan Fogelberg, Vince Gill, and Chris Isaak, Don and his ensembles are based out of New England.
His music is inspired by sources as diverse as the Celtic and Canadian Maritimes music of his family to Dan Fogelberg, Vince Gill, the Beatles and novelist, Stephen King. Writing in genres including adult contemporary, country, Celtic, Christmas, bluegrass, and rock, Campbell has released 12 CDs, most recently a two-disc, 23-song collection, “Kites To Fly: Celebrating the Music of Dan Fogelberg.”
The MAC Summer Concert Series is proud to conclude its Silver Jubilee season with this free concert thanking our veterans and their families for their service.
