Small Business Education Series 2014
Series Sponsor – TD Bank
Whether raising money for your non-profit, business initiative, or social cause, crowdfunding is the latest trend.
Crowdfunding is a way to raise a lot of money easily and sometimes very quickly via social media and the internet to promote a project or cause. Crowdfunding is done in support of a wide variety of activities, including disaster relief, non-profits, political campaigns, startup company funding, movie theaters to name a few. It is a casual, yet powerful, approach based on crowd participation. Funders or donors promote the projects in which they believe and communicate this through their own social media contacts in the hopes that they too will contribute to help the organization achieve their goal. It allows the information to reach all over the world and build awareness. The Screening Room in Newburyport recently conducted an enormously successful campaign to upgrade to digital equipment.
Crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter raised $2.7 billion in 2012 to fund more than one million individual campaigns globally. The industry, which is revolutionizing fundraising and investing is projected to grow to over $5 billion in the next year. These campaigns have the potential to raise huge sums of money in a short period of time.
Attend this seminar to learn the basics of crowdfunding including the do's and dont's of setting up a campaign, characteristics of a great campaign, and how to create a plan of action to achieve success and reach your goals.Presenter: Julia Campbell, President of J Campbell Social Marketing
