Release energy, fully express yourself, feel more comfortable and confident in moving your body, have fun.
This class provides a safe space to express yourself fully through somatic movement. Somatic movement focuses on moving in a way that feels good in your body and less about what the movement looks like.
Class will begin with a dynamic warm up and stretch, followed by an overview of somatic movement (ex. Body rolls, hip circles, etc.) and then students will be guided to move intuitively to music. Think: rhythmic, fluid, flowy movement; allowing the energy of the music to move through you, releasing anything that no longer serves you and allowing new energy to come through you. Getting in touch with every part of your body.
The intention for the class is to have fun, connect with yourself, release tension from the body and feel lighter than when you walked into class. Let go of rigidity and surrender to the energy of the music.
This class is for all levels, whether you’ve never taken a dance class in your life or if you’ve been a dancer your whole life. Come loosen up your body and awaken your playful side.
Led by Rachel Nadonly,
Rachel grew up dancing but didn’t discover her love for somatic movement until recently. It wasn’t until she was dealing with significant physical and mental health issues that she found the medicine that somatic movement provides. It provided her with a safe space to express herself fully and authentically.
Rachel intends to guide others to connect with themselves and move in a way that feels good in their body.
10+ years of dancing (Dance teacher at Interstate Gymnastics & Dance, student at Interstate Gymnastics & Dance; student Seacoast Stilettos), Certification in Holistic Wellness.
All movements are able to be modified. There will be some floor movement, hip movement, people with injuries/limitations should take caution/listen to their bodies.
