The Local Poverty Matters Discussion Group will feature three speakers on the topic of Nourishing the North Shore on Wednesday December 2 at 7 pm in the basement classroom of the First Religious Society Church, 28 Pleasant St., Newburyport.
Ellie Davis from the Greater Newburyport YWCA, Pam Palombo, Newburyport Public Health Nurse, and Nancy Earls from the Newburyport Learning Enrichment Center will describe their work to ensure equal access to healthy food and nutrition to all in the community. They recently received a $50,000 grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation to further these goals.
Local Poverty Matters, which meets the first Wednesday of the month from October through May, is jointly sponsored by the Social Action Committee of FRS and by Pennies for Poverty. It is free and open to the public.
