Join us for the Kick Off Event for "Love What's Local - Greater Newburyport"
The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry along with its retail, restaurant and service members and the City of Newburyport are pleased to announce a new initiative in an effort to continue to shine a light on the importance of supporting locally owned businesses in the greater Newburyport area.
According to a recent study from Sustainable Seattle, buying locally keeps money circulating closer to where you spend it. This creates a ripple effect as those businesses and their employees spend their money locally. For every $1 spent at a local business, 45 cents is reinvested locally.
Love What’s Local – Greater Newburyport will officially kick off on Saturday, June 10 at 3 PM as Mayor Donna Holaday, Senator Kathleen O’Connor Ives, Representative James Kelcourse along with local business owners cut the ribbon and deliver new Love What’s Local – Greater Newburyport decals for business owners. Businesses are encouraged to offer special incentives, discounts, refreshments and raffles until 6 PM that day.
The Love What’s Local – Greater Newburyport campaign will primarily appear on social media with plans in the future to expand with events and support local initiatives throughout the year. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to look for the bold, bright, red Love What’s Local stickers for participating businesses.
