Almost three years ago, we lost Joey Towers of West Newbury to suicide. For many, this tragedy led to a heightened awareness of our current mental health crisis as well as an impetus to take action on behalf of the loved ones we have lost. Joey’s untimely passing and the powerful outpouring of love that followed it introduced us to a community devoted to the widespread and urgent crisis in mental health that touches all of us, and the power of bringing this community together.
That’s why on Columbus Day weekend, we hope you will join us for the first-ever Speed of Light Benefit Concert, a day to celebrate the lives of those we have lost, raise money and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, and enjoy the power of music to help us remember and be together.
This benefit concert will be fundraising for the Movember Project, a leading charity working to prevent suicide among men, who make up 75% of American suicides. Leading up to the event, we will be providing outlets to donate and share reflections online so that anyone can participate regardless of their ability to attend.
