The Walsingham Gallery will host an encaustic painting demonstration by artist Jim Inzero on Saturday, April 20, from 3-7 p.m., during the first ArtWalk weekend of 2013.
Encaustic paints are made with beeswax, resin, and pigments. Heated to a liquid state, the paint is applied in the precious seconds before it cools and solidifies. Jim Inzero began his study of encaustic painting in Mexico, and continued his exploration of the medium after his move from Baltimore to the Jersey Shore. His seascapes convey a sense of spirituality, serenity, and meditation. “Living by the water brings out my creativity,” the artist explains. “The ever-changing water and sky is a constant inspiration. I observe that the colors and textures used in my paintings bring out a definite emotion to the viewer.”
