Architectural House Tour
Owners of historic homes in Newburyport now have the opportunity to proudly identify their house with a plaque that indicates the owner/builder, date, or other notable fact. Central to the program, and of particular historical value, is the verification of dates, names, and facts by professional researchers. The Newburyport Preservation Trust’s Historic House Plaque Program reveals fascinating details about architectural styles, ownership history, and house preservation. This architectural house tour (exterior only) features four homes that have undergone this rigorous research. Meet in front of any of the houses at the appointed hours listed.

Meet in front of 93 High Street, 37 Temple Street, 77 Prospect Street, or 386 High Street in Newburyport.

Enjoy a 15-minute living history tour of the quaint Joppa library, established in 1900, and learn about its efforts to remain open to families throughout Newburyport.

Powder House Park & Learning Center Open House & Musket Firing
Visit the newly-restored 1822 Powder House for a tour and witness a musket firing by Civil War living history reenactors.

Tour: Old South Church History Tour
Enjoy a guided tour of the Old South Church and learn about the Great Awakening, which helped lay the foundation for America’s desire for liberty. Visit the crypt below the sanctuary, containing the remains of Reverend George Whitefield, considered one of the founding fathers of America.
