Mitchell\n\nPaintings feature vivid color as a cure to region's long winter\n\n \n\nCarry Out Cafe & Catering in Newburyport\, MA\, is currently featuring colorful paintings of flowers and landscapes by artist and longtime art teacher Beverly A. Mitchell in the Cafe.\n\n\n\nThe collection will be on display in the gallery through the end of April. A free Artist Reception will be held on Friday\, April 17th  from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Carry Out Cafe. The public is invited to shake off their winter blahs\, come by to meet the artist\, and enjoy appetizers and beverages.\n\n\n\nBeverly A. Mitchell\, a West Newbury\, MA\, resident\,  specializes in brightly colored fine art paintings\, drawings\, and prints featuring flowers\, landscapes\, waterscapes\, interiors\, buildings\, still lifes and abstracts. Named as a Copley Artist in 2008 by The Copley Society of Boston\, Mitchell is also active in Newburyport Art Association\, West Newbury Cultural Council\, and Newburyport Cultural Arts Council. When not teaching drawing and painting in watercolor\, oil and acrylic to beginners and intermediate students\, she keeps busy creating in many mediums   including nurturing her own floral landscape. The Newburyport Art Association has honored her by establishing an annual prize in her name at the Young Budding Artist shows based on her ongoing work with children.\n\n\n\n"Color delights my spirit\," says Mitchell. "I search for it everywhere\, and surround my life with it always. My imagery is decorative and representational\, however the abstract principles are foremost in each piece. The motifs of my paintings are strongly influenced by my love for gardening and decorating."
