SUMMARY:Pianist Arseny Gusev in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this afternoon concert to hear this gifted "rising star" in a new generation of classical musicians from that venerable city.n partnership with the Ballets Russes Arts Initiative\, St. Paul's Church will host a concert by an exciting new talent from St. Petersburg\, Russia\, pianist and composer Arseny Gusev on Sunday\, July 17th at 3:00 PM. Gusev has generated excitement in America since his performances at Boston University's Tanglewood Institute\, the Boston Athenaeum and salon concerts at St. Botolph's Club and the Algonquin Club. His performances have been described as a blend of "superb technical proficiency" and "lyrical romanticism" seldom found in equal measure\, especially in one so young. Gusev has been awarded 22 separate prizes in piano and composition competitions in his native Russia. \n\n\n\nStravinsky's Five Fingers represent the main program. As an encore the pianist will also perform his own second Sonata\, "Dies Irae".
