SUMMARY:Photographer Giles Clement at Skowhegan Dry Goods
DESCRIPTION:Event this Sunday at Skowhegan Dry Goods! From 12-4PM\, renowned photographer Giles Clement will be in the shop creating beautiful vintage tintype portraits. Don't miss this opportunity to have your portrait or a loved one's portrait taken in this unique style using antique equipment and old fashioned methods.\n\n \n\nAbout the Photographer\n\nIn the tradition of artists and tradesmen of generations past\, portrait photographer Giles Clement is taking his studio on the road. Clement uses the tintype method of photography to create unique silver images on sheets of black metal. Tintyping was popular in the late 1800's\, but was quickly abandoned as less difficult and more reliable methods of portraiture were invented. Clement's camera equipment is antique some of it more than 160 years old. In harmony with old methods and equipment\, he uses modern lighting and technologies to capture the faces\, and often the souls\, of a new generation of artists\, inventors and pioneers.\n\n\n\nAbout Skowhegan Dry Goods\n\nSkowhegan is one of the newest shops to open in downtown Newburyport. On State Street's second floor\, they have a general store concept with quality American-made goods\, including men's and women's clothing\, leather goods\, and skin care products.
