SUMMARY:"Opera by the Sea" presented by Symphony by the Sea
DESCRIPTION:SYMPHONY BE THE SEA 2015-2016 SEASON:\n\n\n\nOpera by the Sea\n\nSaturday October 10\, 2015 @ 8pm\n\nBy popular demand\, our fourth annual Opera Gala featuring rare gems and old favorites from the operatic works of Mozart\, Puccini\, Verdi\, Rossini and others.\n\n\n\nSerenades and a Symphony\n\nSaturday April 2\, 2016 @ 8pm\n\nCelebrate Spring with a concert of music overflowing with virtuosity and verve.\n\nMozart: Serenade "Eine kleine Nachtmusik"\n\nSchubert: Symphony No. 5\n\nDvorak: Serenade for Strings\n\n\n\nAll Beethoven\n\nSaturday May 21\, 2016 @ 8pm\n\nBeethoven: Overture to Prometheus\n\nBeethoven: Symphony No. 8\n\nBeethoven: Violin Concerto\n\nIrina Muresanu\, Violin\n\n\n\nNote: Season subscriptions may be purchased via the Symphony by the Sea website: www.symphonybythesea.org or by calling 978-922-1248.\n\nSYMPHONY BY THE SEA\n\nDonald Palma\, Artistic Director and Conductor\n\nSymphony by the Sea's 35th season will again feature treasured orchestral classics as well as some special treats to enhance your listening experience. Our "classical" orchestra is different from the typical "symphony orchestra" in that it is configured in size more like the orchestras that date back to the time of the early symphonic masters\, e.g. Mozart\, Haydn\, Beethoven\, allowing you to experience familiar classical compositions in the style that they were originally performed. You will find the experience different from what you hear in concert halls with considerably larger ensembles.\n\nOur wonderful Music Director and Conductor\, Donald Palma\, has responded to your enthusiasm last season by arranging programs that once again will feature opera\, less familiar classics and very familiar orchestral compositions. To enhance your listening\, Maestro Palma will again offer brief commentary from the podium. We are also delighted to feature opera soloists through our collaboration with Met Auditions.
