SUMMARY:Non-profit Seminar
DESCRIPTION:IT'S TIME TO REINVENT YOUR BOARD \n\n\n\nMillions of talented people join non-profit Boards every year to make a difference in the world. They invest huge amounts of personal time\, talent and money in their organizations\, hoping to make a lasting contribution. Unfortunately\, most Boards function well below their potential -- many end up being 'incompetent groups of competent people. ' \n\nTo survive in these challenging times and to build a sustainable future\, Boards must reinvent themselves. It's simple\, but not easy.\n\n\n	\n Refocus responsibilities on governance instead of oversight\n	\n Select members based on the current stage of your organization's life cycle\n	\n Mobilize their hearts and minds and leverage their unique talents as a group\n	\n Make a rigorous and intentional Board development strategy the primary objective\n\n*****\n\nPresenter Shari Melto\, Nautilus Leadership Institute \n\n \n\nThe primary goal of Nautilus Leadership Institute is to help individual leaders\, their teams and their organizations survive and thrive in this challenging 'whitewater' environment. Shari Melto has more than twenty years of experience working with organizations of all shapes and sizes. She has decades\, including non-profits. She was awarded a MacArthur grant to work with the Boards of thirty arts organizations. \n\n \n\nMost recently\, Shari was Director of Learning and Development at McKinsey & Co. with global responsibility for executive coaching\, leadership development and change management. Psychological type continues to be the core of her practice\, enriched by emotional intelligence\, transactional analysis\, collaborative inquiry and neuro-linguistic programming. \n\n \n\nShe divides her time between a cottage on a Plum Island saltwater marsh and Nauset Light beach on Cape Cod. She is active in several local organizations including Joppa Flats Audubon\, the Gulf of Maine Institute and Newburyport Public Schools.
