SUMMARY:Newburyport Art Association Glass Concepts: Transparency Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Newburyport Art Association presents Glass Concepts: Transparency. This exhibition is part of the "2022 International Year of Glass" (as designated by the United Nations) and takes a look at the way the concept of transparency is used in art.\n\n \n\nWith Transparency\, we are celebrating glass and it's transparent quality but we are also uplifting the other medium transparent in nature: watercolors. As the Metropolitan Museum of Art writes\, watercolor is "prized for the luminosity of its transparent colors". The artists of our Watercolor Interest Group show gossamer layers\, imitating light\, water\, and even glass\, in their paintings on view.\n\n \n\nGlass material can take many forms and its chemical makeup determines the qualities of the medium\, but one of its most prized characteristics is often its transparency. We all know this aspect of glass. It's all around us: our transparent windows let sunlight into our rooms and allow us to view the outdoors\; our clear spectacles enable our improved vision\; and our colorless drinkware show off the lovely hues of our table refreshments. Transparency is all about seeing\, being seen\, and seeing through. And with this\, the NAA continues to embrace the International Year of Glass with this exhibition\, the newest show in the Glass Concepts series: Transparency. Over 50 works make up this show\; participating artists include:\n\n\n\nLisa Arcomano Judy Miller Bailey Pamela BakerElizabeth Bell Megan Chiango Amy Conly\n\nKatie Cornog George Darcy Cassie Doyon Jeannette Esposito Karen Fitzgerald Tim Gilbert\n\nSandra Golbert Lucinda Hamilton Amy Hourihan Ann Jones Corinne McKeown Linda Lamarche\n\nJeanne MacDonald Bradford Matthews Perry McIntosh Marjorie McLaughlin Tracy Meola\n\nBarbara Naeser Verne Orlosk Kelly Page Suzanne Papin Robert Pecchia Peggy Poppe\n\nKimberly Quint Mary Remillong Kathleen Reming Judy Robinson-Cox Tom Robinson-Cox\n\nChristine Sanford David Stone
