SUMMARY:NEF Texas Hold 'Em Tournament
DESCRIPTION:NEWBURYPORT\, MA: The Newburyport Education Foundation (NEF) announces the 6th Annual Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament fundraiser to be held Friday\, March 4th at 6 pm at Newburyport City Hall\, 60 Pleasant Street to benefit the Newburyport Public Schools.   Join us as this event is open to the public\, and a spectator friendly event\, however ticket purchases required to play (and win!) in the tournament.\n\n\n\n'For the last 3 years I have played poker at the NEF Texas Hold-em fundraiser" Kelly Garbarino shared.  "At my first event I didn't even know how to play and was taught by one of the dealers prior to the tournament.  That year I ended up coming in 13th place and had so much fun!"  Kelly has a unique perspective\, as an elementary Title 1 Literacy Support teacher\, parent and past participant who is now on the Newburyport Education Board and volunteered to help make this a memorable night for players and their significant others.\n\n\n\n"So for the last few years I have put together a team of teachers who want to play as well.  Many times we have a teacher or two who have never played before and learn at the event.  Each year we teachers have a blast participating in the Poker Event!  The NEF has many different types of events each year to raise money for our schools but the Poker Night is just pure fun!"\n\n\n\nAnticipating public interest\, volunteers have planned a Ladies practice session on Monday\, February 29th at 7pm in the Port Tavern function room.  Beginners welcome and no fee for the training.  Tickets are required to participate in the tournament being held on Friday\, March 4th at City Hall. \n\n\n\nThe evening features a cash bar and food is provided for players.  Otto Pizza is generously providing pizza throughout the event to players.  There is no cover charge.  A 50/50 Raffle is ever popular\, and unique silent auction items and experiences will be available.\n\n\n\nRegistrants who pay by Saturday\, February 27th will receive a complimentary gift card to Oregano Ristorante and Pizzeria of Newburyport.  \n\n\n\nPrizes are awarded to the top finishers with the Grand Prize of $1\,000. The event features professional dealers and seating is limited   last year this event sold out!  Tickets are $125 and can be purchased online to guarantee a seat at www.NewburyportEF.org/poker.
