DESCRIPTION:Newburyport Art Association\n\nMural Gallery Member Spotlight: Corinne McKeown ~ Grow Your Dreams\n\nFriday September  30\, 2022    Sunday October 16\, 2022\n\n \n\nNewburyport\, MA - Newburyport Art presents Grow Your Dreams\, a collection of pieces by mosaicist Corinne McKeown. Corinne's exhibition is the latest addition of the Member Spotlight series in the Mural Gallery a new space encompassing the hallway and staircase from the first-floor Sargent gallery to the Hartson gallery on the second floor. This exciting initiative will provide NAA's many members with the opportunity to feature their work in a short-running solo show.\n\nCorinne McKeown began her journey to become a proficient mosaic artist in 2012. Making art is how she feels most accomplished\, contributory\, purposeful\, spiritually balanced\, and enlivened. Corinne learned early on that creating mosaics is not just a 'feel good' activity   that the process of selecting and connecting the elements of size\, color\, texture\, and shape helps develop the skills of problem-solving\, critical thinking\, patience\, and trust. There is always a sense of negotiation when making art to achieve the best possible execution and outcome\, whether for function or decor. Mosaic is a forgiving art where imperfections can be embraced to add interest\, and to highlight other parts of the work. This has been an important lesson for Corinne's life in general. \n\nEmbracing the power of art to heal\, Corinne became an Arts in Health Practitioner in 2020\, and loves introducing the joy and benefits of creativity to people   especially when they don't believe they are creative.\n\nGrow Your Dreams  is on view through October 16th in our Mural Gallery. The show is on view concurrently with the NAA's Glass Perspectives\, the second part of its celebration of 2022 as the International Year of Glass. All work is for sale. The gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday\, 11:00am 5:00pm\, Sunday 1:00pm 5:00pm and is handicap accessible.
