We will discuss the initial consideration of a challenge\, filing an abatement application with the local assessors\, and how to appeal the assessor's denial (or partial granting) of the application with a statement or petition filed with the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board (MATB)\, the state's tax court. Class hand-outs include guides\, forms and other useful resources. Marc Tucker is an attorney in Newburyport who spent 30-plus years at the MATB as Commissioner and Tax Counsel.
