SUMMARY:Integrating Practice with Todd Wright
DESCRIPTION:Newbury Kayak and Canoe\, P&H Sea Kayaks and Rock Paddle Surf present:\n\nIntegrating Practice with Todd Wright\n\n\n\nFriday January 5th\, 7-9 pm at NK&C\n\n \n\nEveryone knows that practice is an essential element to increasing competency and becoming a more skillful paddler\; but there are a number of 'bear traps' when it comes to both structuring and engaging in intentional practice. This interactive session will look at how to identify the 'bear traps' and develop practice behaviors without 10\,000 hours\, or having to sacrifice what you love about paddling\, just to get better at it. This session is designed for recreational enthusiasts\, club paddlers\, trip leaders and instructors/coaches\; anyone who wants to get more intentional about practice\, or encourage practice in others. Thanks to Newbury Canoe and Kayak\, Rock Paddle Surf and P&H Custom Sea Kayaks there is no charge for the event but space is limited so pre-registration is required.\n\n\n\nPlease contact NK&C or RPS to register.\n\n\n\nPresenter:\n\nTodd A Johnstone-Wright is a paddler\, coach and educator whose passion lies at the nexus of coaching and teaching. As a practitioner\, Todd works with enthusiasts\, athletes\, coaches\, and instructors across a range of disciplines to help facilitate the learning and development process. Academically\, he is engaged in making coaching and educational theory relevant and accessible to practitioners. As a paddler and coach\, Todd travels extensively as a provider of British Canoeing and American Canoe Association programs and expeditioning in both coastal and whitewater boats. In addition\, he holds awards in the climbing\, mountain bicycling and ski disciplines\, teaches Wilderness Medicine\, and is a team paddler for P&H Kayaks\, Werner Paddles and an ambassador for Kokatat.
