SUMMARY:Greater Newburyport Village -Village Talk Series - "What's the Buzz? It?s All About Bees"
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, April 20th at "Village Talks"\, a Greater Newburyport Village evening series. Hear Anita Deeley\; Beekeeper and Massachusetts State Bee Inspector\, answer the question "What's the Buzz? It's All About Bees" \n\n \n\n\n\nWhat started with her son's desire to roll wax candles set Anita Deeley's career path on a completely new trajectory! Today she is not only a Beekeeper\, but also a Massachusetts State Bee Inspector and Board member for the Essex County Beekeepers Association and Massachusetts Beekeepers Association. Anita was determined to learn more about bees and learn she did! \n\n\n\nDeeley has between 30 and 50 hives\, harvests\, her own honey\, and makes her very own lip balm\, lotion and candles. In addition to maintaining and inspecting hives she also offers bee removal services. She collects unwanted bees found in homes and swarms and relocates them to areas where they will be cared for by beekeepers. Most of the colonies Deeley has are part of a Host-A-Hive program. \n\n\n\nBetween pesticides\, pests\, and loss of habitat\, honeybees are dying out. Keeping a Hive in a safe environment allows the honeybees to thrive. Come meet Anita and learn all about bees and why they are so critical to our ecosystem.\n\n \n\nStay Tuned for our next "Village Talk" series\, which will continue in in May.\n\n \n\nThe Village's popular Lunch and Learn Series will return to Hope Church at noon on Wednesday\, April 27th when we will delve into the world of Baby Elephants with Dr. Mary Baures.\n\n \n\nEveryone is welcome!\n\n \n\nThe mission of the Greater Newburyport Village is to promote living well and independently for a lifetime through community engagement and a network of neighborly support.\n\n \n\nFor more information: www.greaternewburyportvillage.org\n\ninfo@greaternewburyportvillage.org
