SUMMARY:"Fired Up Newburyport" to Assist the Victims of the Liberty Street Fire
DESCRIPTION:It has been said that "It Takes a village to raise a child"   in the case when businesses suffer a devastating fire   it takes a community to come together to help each other. The greater Newburyport community has reached out to the businesses that suffered significant losses last month during the Liberty Street fire. \n\n\n\nAs usual\, the community of Newburyport has rallied together as a community that cares and takes care of each other when something bad happens. \n\n \n\nThe City of Newburyport\, Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Firehouse Center for the Arts along with members of the Newburyport business community have come together to plan a fundraising event entitled "Fired Up NBPT" to assist with financial needs that will not be covered by the business owner's insurance. \n\n \n\nOn Wednesday\, July 20\, downtown Newburyport will be the centerpiece of this fundraising event. The Firehouse will offer musical entertainment from 5   9 PM. Billed as a "musical open house"   three local bands have donated their time and talent to offer entertainment for the event attendees. \n\n \n\nLux                                              5 PM \n\nHenry Welch Band                  6 PM  \n\nCup of Joe                                 7 PM \n\nLiz Frame and The Kickers     8 PM  \n\n \n\nIn addition to the entertainment\, a raffle of local retail items and beer and wine (donations suggested) will be available as well. Suggested donation for the event at the Firehouse is $25 per person\n\n \n\nIn addition to the musical open house\, local restaurants and retailers will offer percentages on the proceeds from their sales that day to the relief fund. Tickets are $5 each and are available at Inn Street Barbershop\, 50 Inn Street\, Newburyport. Also\, Matt and Karyn Khatib are designing and working on a Newburyport necklace that will be available for sale at MK Benatti Jewelers in the near future and will support the effort as well. Holaday states "The fire that destroyed Abraham's and impacted all the businesses on East Row was devastating to the owners and their employees.  It is so heartening to see the local businesses\, restaurants\, Chamber and City come together so quickly in response to this crisis.  I encourage all to come out and listen to music\, visit shops and enjoy great food to show your support and help all impacted by the fire."\n\n \n\nLaurie Contrino\, Firehouse Center for the Arts states "The Firehouse is honored to open its doors to the community as together we join efforts to rally around the downtown businesses affected by the fire in our precious downtown. Newburyport is truly a special place\, where business owners and residents do not hesitate to rush to the aid of those in a time of crisis and need."  \n\n \n\nLocal business owners on the committee as well offered the following. Ginny Eramo\, Owner\, INTERLOCKS Salon + Spa - "To see your business literally go down in flames\, is every business owner's worst nightmare. Insurance will help but it won't be enough\, and I'm compelled to lend my support to help Abraham's and others overcome this setback."   Also Nancy Batista Caswell stated "At the drop of a quick email our food community responded with YES how can I help. Our community is special and any business owner is treated as family. Newburyport has heart." \n\n \n\n \n\nFunds raised during the event will assist businesses and employees of the businesses with loss of salary and other needs. The Provident Bank has set up a fund where donations will be kept and managed.
