SUMMARY:February Vacation Camps! Songwriting & the Creative Process
DESCRIPTION:Does your child have an interest and a love of music? Does he/she enjoy creative writing and working with others? The Children's Museum of New Hampshire and New Hampshire songwriter Rick Lang are excited to offer a new pilot program for children interested in learning the basic elements of songwriting\, melody\, rhythm and how to organize and record your song ideas. We'll explore how songs compare with other types of writing and how to transform thoughts into words and words into song.\n\n	\n\n	During the course of three sessions\, participants will be introduced to traditional American music and will work collaboratively to write a song about the river. Participants will use the museum's Cochecosystems exhibit and the river right outside our door as inspiration. The project will culminate in the creation of a group song about the river that is put to music that each student will receive in electronic form and that the museum will share with visitors and school groups.\n\n	\n\n	Rick and fellow musicians created a musical piece especially for this workshop. Click here to listen to an instrumental composition of "River Song" that may be used in the Songwriting Workshop.\n\n	For more information about Rick Lang or to listen to his music \, please visit his website at http://haleyannamusic.com.\n\n \n\n	Call the museum at 603-742-2002 to register for this program.\n\n	Registration begins January 5th for museum members\, January 6th for nonmembers.
