The exhibit will be on display to the public during regular bank hours at The Provident Bank's 66 Storey Ave\, Newburyport\, MA location through June.\n\n \n\n The public is invited to an Artist's Reception honoring Jane on Thursday\, February 23\, 2017 from 5:30 7:00pm at our 66 Storey Ave\, Newburyport\, MA office. Light refreshments will be served.\n\n \n\n \n\n About the Artist\n\n \n\n Jane V. Coder\, a contemporary artist\, was born and educated in Boston\, MA. She holds degrees from Emmanuel College and Harvard University where she studied literature and art. Jane looks for patterns and meaning in the world\, often resulting in abstract\, spiritual and meditative work. Beginning at Emmanuel College where she studied painting and printmaking\, her art has been a source of peace\, comfort and happiness\, increasing her energy of spirit for the past forty years. She works in paint\, oil pastel and collage. Her art has been a visual diary\, inspired by memory\, loss\, emotion\, place and time and often might be called intuitive landscapes. She has exhibited widely and frequently. Her work is found in collections throughout New England\, New York and Florida.\n\n \n\n In addition to being a visual artist\, Jane Coder is a teacher and poet. She was the owner of Sun Wheel Studios in Swampscott and Salem\, Massachusetts and the publisher of a literary/art magazine\, Garden Lane.\n\n The recent paintings exhibited at The Provident Bank in Newburyport\, MA from January to June reflect the influences of her recent life\, which include a move to Amesbury\, MA and living within view of the Merrimack River.\n\n "Through the Foliage to the River" was inspired by the view from her bedroom window looking through the leaves of an old maple tree to the river. "Summer Morning on the Merrimack" and "Winter Ice on The Merrimack" are also created from the experience of living along the river in summer and winter and the joy and light she finds there.\n\n \n\n The Provident Bank's Lobby for the Arts Program\, celebrating its 20th year\, is an ongoing series of local art exhibits displayed at all The Provident Bank branch lobbies. It receives no commission for artwork sold\, and pays all expenses associated with the exhibit. The Provident Bank has been recognized for its commitment to building a creative community with a 2012 New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA) Business in the Arts Award for the Lobby for the Arts program as well as for its support of local artists and cultural organizations throughout the Seacoast New Hampshire region.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn More \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n For more information about Linda's reception\, please contact Sara Spaulding at (978) 225-1402.
