MassDOT Highway ADA Transition Plan Public Meetings

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will host a series of public meetings to
share the current results of work to update its ADA Transition Plan. This plan includes a review of
MassDOT policies and procedures, and an assessment of MassDOT owned curb cuts and other
fixed assets, such as buildings and equipment such as accessible pedestrian signals. Based on the current assessments, MassDOT has prioritized the barriers we have identified, starting with the curb cuts that we own. We have also begun efforts to correct the items we have identified that pose a barrier to people with disabilities who use the programs, services and activities in our jurisdiction.

These meetings are design to give members of the public the opportunity to review and comment on the results of our efforts, including our prioritization of features for remediation, and to ask questions related to this effort. The meetings will be held in accessible locations within each of the MassDOT Highway districts, and will be repeated in the spring to avoid weather conditions that could risk postponing these important discussions.

To review the ADA Transition Plan and submit a comment, please visit the MassDOT’s Office of
Diversity and Civil Rights ADA webpage:mhttp://www.massdot.state.ma.us/OfficeofCivilRights/
