Newburyport, MA – The Institution for Savings, through its three charitable foundations, recently awarded individual $15,000 scholarships to eight graduating seniors from area high schools, including Pentucket Regional, Newburyport, Triton Regional, Ipswich, Masconomet Regional, Beverly, Gloucester and Rockport.

The recipients of this year’s scholarships are as follows: Kimberly Tran, Beverly High School; Katerina Connor, Newburyport High School; Joshua Dumont, Ipswich High School; Jessica Vedrani, Triton Regional High School; Daniel Ryan, Rockport High School; Elizabeth Inger, Pentucket Regional High School; Andrew Marshall, Masconomet Regional High School; and Samantha Orlando, Gloucester High School.

To qualify for the scholarships, graduating seniors must be accepted for admission at an accredited two- or four-year college or university; be one of the top 50 students in their classes academically; demonstrate traits consistent with the Bank’s vision of positively affecting other persons or community through leadership, volunteerism, innovation and/or service; and demonstrate academic achievement. They also must complete two essays on various topics including their aspirations; insights from a significant experience; and who they consider to be their role models.

“These eight recipients demonstrate great leadership skills, high academic achievement and, most importantly, strong character,” said Michael J. Jones, president and CEO. “They will truly continue to have a positive effect on the lives of others.”
