Feeding Backyard Birds

November 27, 2017
Tuesday December 5th at 7pm at the Newburyport Public Library.

Wondering how to attract birds to your yard all year long? Are you curious about birds native to New England?

Join Bill Gette, former Sanctuary Director of Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center, for a presentation of feeding backyard birds. Using color photographs, Bill will review the birds typically seen at feeding stations and in backyard sanctuaries. He will discuss aids to field identification (e.g., size, body shape, bill shape, behavior) and other exciting facts about these amazing animals. He will review each species’ range map, changes in distribution, local dates of occurrence, and food preferences. He will also discuss the importance of backyard sanctuaries – even very small ones – and suggest ways that you can enhance your yard for wildlife.
