49th Annual Meeting & Awards Gala

The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry recently held their 49th Annual Meeting & Awards Gala at Blue Ocean Event Center. The Chamber Board of Directors announced outgoing and incoming chairs, and several local companies were honored with business awards. They also acknowledged over 250 local businesses with Anchor Awards for achieving over 25 years in business.

Chairman of the Board Mark Bailey, of Chase & Lunt Insurance, was inducted by the board of directors, who also recognized outgoing chair Kim Gobbi, of kg Web Marketing. The 2015-2016 incoming board includes new members Michelle Ault from Turning Point, Matt Khatib from M.K. Benatti Jewelers, and Daniel Schaffner of Fritz DeGuglielmo, LLC. They also thanked outgoing member Kate Kelly of Kelly’s Taylor Rental.

Business awards were given to Arwood Machine Corp. for Business of the Year, Newburyport Brewing Company for Small Business of the Year, The Salvation Army for Nonprofit of the Year, Metzy’s Taqueria for New Business of the Year, Matt Forcier of LMV Productions for Young Professional of the Year, and Delia O’Connor of Anna Jaques Hospital for the Captain’s Award. Chamber Volunteer of the Year award was given to the Chamber’s front desk volunteers. This year’s Ed Molin Community Leadership Award was presented to Ginny Eramo of Interlocks: Salon. Spa. Cosmetics.

Benatti Jewelers,, Pak Mail Centers of America, Partridge in a Bear Tree, Racquet Club of Newburyport, Riverwalk Brewing Company, Salon Bellisimo & Barbershop, Starbucks Newburyport, and The Walsingham Gallery.

For Nonprofit of the Year: Anna Jaques Hospital, Emmaus, Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport, Firehouse Center for the Arts, Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, Merrohawke Nature School, Pennies for Poverty, Plum Island Foundation, ROOF Over Head Collaborative, and the YWCA of Greater Newburyport. 

For New Business of the Year: Aurora Ballroom Dance Studio, Blue Ocean Event Center, Dianne’s Fine Desserts retail store, Farley’s of Newburyport, New England Ice Lollies, Port City Sandwich Company, Sage Market & Design, Salon Bellisimo & Barbershop, and Skowhegan Dry Goods.

For Young Professional of the Year: Katie & Todd Dionne of Skowhegan Dry Goods, John Dudley of Entertain New England, Dan Hoffenberg of Cataldo Ambulance Service, Kami & Michael Land of New England Ice Lollies, Tiffany Learned of Detailed Engagements, Christy LeMire of Christy LeMire Wellness, Lily MacLead of Chococoa Baking Company, Hanna Pattie of Northshore Magazine, and Matt Perry of Elements Therapeutic Massage.
