Job Description
Position Summary:
Turning Point, Inc., Newburyport, a 20 million dollar human services, nonprofit agency currently has an opening for a Director of Operations. This “hands on” position reports to the President & CEO and oversees the company's maintenance, facilities, fleet, space planning and move coordination functions on a 24X7 basis. As a senior manager, the Director of Operations will use their knowledge of Massachusetts State, federal, and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations and licensing standards. This position will interact with organizational levels, business contacts, vendors, sub-contractors, and state/federal agencies to handle service contract negotiations and bids. Working in the field and home office, this position will travel to the 36+ Merrimack Valley and North Shore, MA residential programs to monitor, inspect and recommend repairs. Other responsibilities include management of grounds keeping and snow removal services, and leadership of a small staff.

  • BS/BA in Business or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years progressively responsible "hands-on" maintenance/facilities project management experience in a nonprofit, human service setting for a Department of Developmental Services (DDS) agency is a must. This experience must include knowledge of all project phases, contracts, budget management, and bid proposals
  • Five or more years managing a small maintenance/facilities staff, as well as outside telecommunication and other vendors
  • Facilities installation, repair and inspection experience is a must
  • Familiarity with state/municipal building codes and regulations pertaining to property maintenance, fire prevention, construction and contract administration is essential
  • Knowledge of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) licensing standards is mandatory
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills while working with all organizational levels, as well as external vendors/subcontractors in a professional, tactful, calm, diplomatic and confidential manner
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills, as well as Google/Outlook email knowledge will be necessary
