The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry is proud to announce the launch of The Port of Wonder, a month-long celebration transforming downtown Newburyport into a festive holiday destination from November 30 through December 25, 2025.

Led by the newly established Downtown Business Advisory Council of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this collaborative initiative brings together local businesses, community organizations, and residents to create a magical holiday experience that celebrates the best of Newburyport — from shopping and dining to family traditions and waterfront charm.

A Month of Celebration

·        Yuletide Friday Night Strolls - With hopes to close State Street the First Friday December 5 6-9pm

·        Little Wonders on Inn Street (Sundays – family fun & carolers)

·        Santa Workshops in Inn Street, Brown Square, Tannery and Firehouse Center for the Arts

·        Christmas Trees on Market Square decorated by RedNose

·        Holiday Musicals & Sing-Alongs at Firehouse Center for the Arts and on the Square

·        Green Ticket Shopping Spree with a chance to win $5000 gift basket on Christmas Eve

The celebration will begin with the lighting of the Market Square Christmas Tree, adorned by Red Nose Decorators (Fanuel Hall Decorators), and continue with weekend programming designed to drive engagement, joy, and commerce throughout the downtown district ( State Street, Inn Street, Pleasant Street, Market Square, Water Street to the Tannery).

“We are thrilled to bring The Port of Wonder to life as our first project under the Downtown Business Advisory Council,” said Nancy Caswell, President of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry. “This effort showcases the strength of collaboration among our business community and reflects Newburyport’s spirit of togetherness, creativity, and joy.”

“A Sinatra Christmas” is coming to The Firehouse Center with all your holiday favorites like “Jingle Bells” & “White Christmas”, mixed with Frank’s iconic beloved songs including “My Way” & “New York, New York”, performed by Rich DiMare and The Ron Poster Trio.

Rich DiMare is an American singer who specializes in the Frank Sinatra songbook and has 20 years experience providing entertainment across the country. Rich spent 15 years live on-air at Boston’s highest rated morning show, KISS 108’s Matty in the Morning, and as a host on Boston’s Fox25 TV. Because of this experience in media and music, Rich is a seasoned showman.

Ron Poster is a Boston based pianist and keyboard artist who specializes in Popular & Classic American music as a soloist and with small groups. He’s been the organist for the Boston Bruins at TD Garden since 2001 and also toured in the 90’s and early 2000’s with the band Missing Persons.

Rich and Ron’s understanding of the Sinatra songbook, coupled with their interactions on stage makes this “Ol’ Blue Eyes” experience something Rat Pack lovers won’t forget!

Grace Kelly, an unequivocal musical prodigy, singer-saxophonist-songwriter-composer, and band leader, has rocked the jazz world with sold-out concerts, 15 acclaimed albums, and a resume that includes performing at the Hollywood Bowl as well as a member of the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – all before reaching her mid-twenties. In 2022, she became the youngest member of Berklee College of Music’s Board of Trustees. Grace’s early career highlights featured performances at Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration at age 16 and at age 14 as a soloist with the Boston Pops playing an original, arranged composition with the legendary orchestra. Since then, she has played over 1,000 shows as a bandleader in 35 countries at venues such as the Kennedy Center, Moscow Symphony Hall, and international jazz festivals. Newburyport Art (NAA) welcomes visitors to enjoy free Invitation Night festivities at Newburyport Art.

December 5th - Voices of Newburyport from 6:30-8:30pm with local voices Paul Wann, Bonnie Jean Wilbur, Jared Stromski and Currie Joya Huntington reading aloud fiction written by and about people from Newburyport. 

December 12th - Indoor Winter Arts Market from 6-8pm offers shopping for the holiday season with participating artists Lynn Andrews, Michele Champion, Patrick Cleary, Amna Greaves, Lynda Hartwell, Milestone 35 Tools & Woodworking, Kathleen Miller, Lisa Pilorz, Johanna Finnegan Topitzer, AJ Simmons and Susan Stranc. Artists will be selling small gifts, original paintings, ceramics, jewelry, stationary, handmade textiles, seasonal items, ornaments and more. 

December 19th - Craft Night from 6:30-8:30pm invites visitors to get creative with ornament and canvas decorating. All materials will be provided.

The events are open to the public and will include light refreshments and live music. Exhibitions on display at the gallery will be Hometown Stories, and Featured Artist Max Schenk.

Founded in 1948, Newburyport Art is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting members’ work and to providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community.

Theater in the Open is happy to be back at the Firehouse for our production of A Nutcracker Panto, written by Edward F. Speck and adapted from the classic holiday ballet. Presented in the traditional British panto style, this holiday send-up is a family friendly romp through Clara’s adventure with the Nutcracker, the battle with the Rat King, and more than likely a Tik Tok dance trend. Holiday Pantos with Theater in the Open are a tradition in Newburyport, and we are excited to bring this incredible joy to our community. Join us!

December 5th - Voices of Newburyport from 6:30-8:30pm with local voices Paul Wann, Bonnie Jean Wilbur, Jared Stromski and Currie Joya Huntington reading aloud fiction written by and about people from Newburyport. 

December 12th - Indoor Winter Arts Market from 6-8pm offers shopping for the holiday season with participating artists Lynn Andrews, Michele Champion, Patrick Cleary, Amna Greaves, Lynda Hartwell, Milestone 35 Tools & Woodworking, Kathleen Miller, Lisa Pilorz, Johanna Finnegan Topitzer, AJ Simmons and Susan Stranc. Artists will be selling small gifts, original paintings, ceramics, jewelry, stationary, handmade textiles, seasonal items, ornaments and more. 

December 19th - Craft Night from 6:30-8:30pm invites visitors to get creative with ornament and canvas decorating. All materials will be provided.

The events are open to the public and will include light refreshments and live music. Exhibitions on display at the gallery will be Hometown Stories, and Featured Artist Max Schenk.

Founded in 1948, Newburyport Art is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting members’ work and to providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community.

The Deep Blue C Studio Orchestra is returning to the Firehouse Performing Arts Center and will present a concert entitled, A Christmas to Remember. The 17-piece orchestra will be playing the Christmas songs that you most love.

You will hear favorites such as, Do You Hear What I Hear, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, A Grown Up Christmas List, White Christmas, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, and many more. The DBCSO  is made up of woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings as in a symphony orchestra. It also includes a rhythm section of guitar, bass, keyboards, percussionist, and drum set as in a jazz combo or show orchestra. The orchestra also includes four outstanding vocalists!

Professor “Doc” Vose is the director and a huge talent in his own right. He was a long-time professor at Boston’s Berklee College of Music and he recently was inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame! It is the orchestra’s only public performance in this area.

Newburyport Art (NAA) welcomes visitors to enjoy free Invitation Night festivities at Newburyport Art.

December 5th - Voices of Newburyport from 6:30-8:30pm with local voices Paul Wann, Bonnie Jean Wilbur, Jared Stromski and Currie Joya Huntington reading aloud fiction written by and about people from Newburyport. 

December 12th - Indoor Winter Arts Market from 6-8pm offers shopping for the holiday season with participating artists Lynn Andrews, Michele Champion, Patrick Cleary, Amna Greaves, Lynda Hartwell, Milestone 35 Tools & Woodworking, Kathleen Miller, Lisa Pilorz, Johanna Finnegan Topitzer, AJ Simmons and Susan Stranc. Artists will be selling small gifts, original paintings, ceramics, jewelry, stationary, handmade textiles, seasonal items, ornaments and more. 

December 19th - Craft Night from 6:30-8:30pm invites visitors to get creative with ornament and canvas decorating. All materials will be provided.

The events are open to the public and will include light refreshments and live music. Exhibitions on display at the gallery will be Hometown Stories, and Featured Artist Max Schenk.

Founded in 1948, Newburyport Art is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting members’ work and to providing art education and access to the visual arts for the entire community.
