Event Description:
Every third weekend, a group of experienced playwrights and actors gather to workshop each other’s new material. The playwrights give their pages to the actors in advance, the actors bring these words to life. Suggestions are made, insight is provided and new plays are born.

“We have some of the area’s best talent banding together to create our own form of magic,” says actor and playwright Adair Rowland. “The help I’ve received has been tremendous.”

“We’re here to support each other, commit to each other’s work, and most importantly to help each other discover,” says playwright Jack Rushton. “Sometimes what you write is not always what you see and hear. The meaning of something changes through its interpretation. Trying to understand these mysteries is what our collaborative process is all about.”

For the past couple of years, the most promising of these collaborations get a public performance. This year, Collaboration3, a collection of eight plays, will be staged April 21-23 at The Actors Studio of Newburyport, 50 Water St., Mill #1, Suite #5.

According to Marc Clopton, executive director of The Actor’s Studio,
the collaboration is “an exciting collection of drama and comedy written, performed and directed by a very talented group, providing an excellent night of theater, filled with surprises.”

“We are a troupe,” says playwright Nick Hennessy. “From a group of friends and colleagues, we’ve assembled this amazing universe of talent all dedicated to the work and to each other.”
