Precision Mechanical Inspector/CMM Operator
Job Description
Arwood Machine Corporation is a well-established ISO-9001:2008 AS9100B certified, high precision job shop located North of Boston in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Arwood Machine Corporation manufactures and delivers the highest quality products including medical/surgical devices, aerospace, semi-conductor, and telecommunications. We are currently seeking a seasoned precision mechanical inspector to join our quality assurance department.
Job Summary:
Performs In-Process and Final dimensional inspections of close tolerance-machined parts with minimal supervision under the direction of the quality control supervisor. Will perform conventional mechanical inspections using surface-plate set-ups, Micro-hites, Micrometers / Calipers, etc, as well as operating DCC controlled coordinate measuring machines and non-contact vision systems. PC-DMIS software knowledge and programming experience would be a plus. Experience in medical device and aerospace manufacturing also helpful. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to interact across all levels of the organization. Basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and outlook are required. Other duties as required.
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of seven years experience as mechanical inspector on high precision machined parts.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Extensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft-Office software programs.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- CMM experience using PC-DMIS software.
- Understanding of statistical process control.
- Non-contact vision systems experience.
- Ability to interface with all departments.
- Excellent math / trigonometry skills.
